BRUR got rid of session jam thru’ online classes and exams: VC

Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) has become a session-jam-free university among the public universities for imparting online classes and exams, said the BRUR Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Hasibur Rashid. The VC clarified telling, “The target of the current government's vision 2041 is now to build a smart Bangladesh. For this all work needs to be digitized. Begum Rokeya University is now moving towards digitalization. This university is the only one among the public universities to be session free with online classes and examination on digital system. Administrative activities will also be online in near future. It is for this purpose that we have established the Center for Digital Transformation”.

‘It is not yet clear to us that what will be the pattern of fourth industrial revolution,' the vice-chancellor added, ‘but it is expected to be technology-dependent. As a result, it will affect the quality of life of people including social policy, economy. In order to sustain oneself in this competitive revolution, practical science education should be given importance’.

VC, BRUR opined so, while speaking as the chief guest at the 'Smart Employment Fair' held at the Cafeteria Building of the university on Saturday. The Fair was organized in collaboration with Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur; the Information and Communication Technology Division of the Government; Directorate of Information and Communication and several other institutions including a2i.

While speaking as the special guest, the Pro Vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Sarifa Salwa Dina said that, Vision Smart Bangladesh 2041 has been announced targeting the betterment of the people. The intention is, the people of this country will easily get all the facilities through digitalization. She called upon the young society to come forward to build a smart Bangladesh. Regional Director of Bangladesh Computer Council Engineer Md. Aminul Islam presided over the opening session.

Director of Center for Digital Transformation and Head of Department of Computer Science and Engineering Professor Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman delivered his welcome address. At that time, the Proctor of the University Md. Shariful Islam, Director of Student Counseling and Guidance Office (ongoing duty) Syed Anwarul Azim and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall Provost Dr. Bijan Mohan Chaki and others were present.

Various domestic IT companies participated in the fair. Interested job aspirants were shortlisted after optional application, interview and screening. Apart from this, the students and job aspirants got advice to build a career in various sectors of information technology by participating in seminars and discussions on skill development, innovation, e-commerce, freelancing, etc.

Candidates will not run after job rather job will run after the applicants- this view will make an important contribution to the implementation of the government's plan to reduce unemployment.
